ABOUT ME |
I
received a National SW-54 receiver for Christmas in 1956 and my interest
in radio since then has never ended. I
earned my first amateur license in 1957 while in high school and have had the same call ever
since (59+ years).
There were several periods of inactivity while attending to school,
family, work, and business matters, but I have acquired a renewed interest in
amateur radio over the last decade. I have antennas up for most
bands but primarily operate on 40 and 20 meters SSB and some of the
digital modes. I enjoy working on
equipment and putting up antennas.
My equipment includes some of the Icom and Yaesu rigs, but I mostly like my vintage Heathkit collection as it's easy and economical to keep in service. Over the years I've had the Novice, General, Advanced, and Extra Amateur licenses, and the First Class Commercial license. I added an EE degree and a PE registration along the way, among other things. The ham radio hobby has been fun and its helped me meet a lot of nice people over the years. I still enjoy going to hamfests throughout the southeast and looking for some vintage gear to add to my collection. Give me a call if you hear K8GNZ on the air. 73's, Bob. email |
